"everything comes with a price tag" - lydia commenting on trendsetters

a recent college graduate, i'm currently working with high school students (which is another story altogether) and volunteering my time with pediatric patients at ucsf. my crafty obsessions include spinning and knitting in addition to reading and writing, which is probably the reason why i'm never focused on a single thing at the same time.

and, if any of you were in avon or harperteen fanlit, feel free to friend/message me. =)

weekly writers challenge

take a look at the weekly writers challenge hub for more details. http://www.inkpop.com/forums/threads/298/weekly-writer-s-challenge-hub/

an incentive for those who participate, the trendsetter exchange is open to those who enter the challenges. =d for more details, follow the link http://www.inkpop.com/forums/threads/851/the-top-trendsetters-are-going-to-read-your-work-not-a-read-swap-at-all-/

take a look at v'day! it's an anthology of valentine's day stories, some sweet, some sad and some with the hint of horror that makes everything better. http://www.inkpop.com/projects/21605/v-day-7-tales-of-love-horror-and-friendship/

***** currently reading dark age + picklisted books.

***** policy... policy....

*** new addition to policy *** a little burned out so i won't be accepting requests for comments/edits unless you have commented before 3/21/10. sorry. =.=

well... if you read my work, offer a reasonable comment. yes, i can tell whether or not you truly read it, i can offer a reasonable comment as well. take a look at my past comments, i take a great deal of time with them.

asking me to read a book when you've read a mere poem is a bit much to ask for so please take that into consideration when you spam me. so if you want me to read, this is how it goes. poem for a poem, short story for a short story. if you have a book, spam but keep in mind i only add the ones i truly admire or like.

***** update - 6/2/10 i've been gone for 2 months because of all the spam. it was getting tiresome. from now on, i'm only going to do what i want. sorry to all those who take offense at this. for everyone i "speak" to on a semi-regular basis, tell me when you update. =) i don't mind.

Hymn to Artemis

by Exiled_Muse

Poem

Awaken, Muse –
And speak
Of the long-suffering foolishness of a man,
Weak enough to fall prey to his desires.

Many have heard of the Olympian Gods but few have lived to tell of the tale. Remember Arachne, who wove her downfall into fabric? Now she spins her iridescent web only to have it destroyed by the merest touch. Artemis's Hymn tells the story of foolish Actaeon who wished to set eyes upon the Goddess of the Hunt, Artemis.

2012: Rise of the Mermaids

by Exiled_Muse

Short Story: Romance, Science Fiction/Fantasy, General Fiction, Paranormal

The world may have ended, but not for Brenna Kiely.

Brenna Kiely never thought that her trip to India would bring her to the brink of death. As the day drew on, the land changed around her, mountains collapsing into newly emergent seas, trees erupting from sandy dunes, and lakes draining into rocky caverns which had not existed only moments earlier.

The prophesied apocalypse was not something Brenna imagined would happen on her sabbatical. And the appearance of the mythical creatures she had traveled the world to collect stories about only reinforced the belief that Brenna was dreaming.

Kiernan Flynn has no illusions about the woman that slid straight into his arms the moment the earth split and joined his world with hers.

Haiti, Mon Amour

by Exiled_Muse

Poem

For the dead in Haiti.

Cry tears of sorrow for the dead, those gone that fateful day on January 12, 2010. Pray, plead to the loa, to the spirits of the vodou and whisper your torment to the guardians of spirits past, to the protectors of the living and beg for mercy.

For those who have yet to hear the song. Go to youtube and search for We Are the World - 25 For Haiti.
