the evolution revolution:

i believe in honesty. i believe that i deserve to know the truth about my writings, even if that truth is ugly. and i believe that the truth is being repressed by people who are either too afraid to offend or who don't care enough to say it.

so here's my pledge. in all of my dealings with my fellow inkpoppers, i will do my best to be honest. this does not mean merciless slaughter of innocent poems and novels, this does not mean insta-picks for every short story that i read. this means that, what i read, i will comment on. what you do is up to you.

i promise to:
1. always read at least one chapter; thoroughly. no skimming, no once-overs. i will be an honest reader.
2. balance my comment with what i liked and didn't liked. i will give an honest review that is as helpful and supportive as it can be.

Pigskin Memories

Short Story: Humor, Romance, General Fiction

Jenna needed an escape and a way to entice Andrew into her arms, who knew a football game would be the answer?

"It’s the start of the weekend, a little slice of Americana: Football Friday. The crowd is already roaring when I get there. I can hear them from all the way across practice field. I see the stadium lights, they are blindingly brilliant. I can smell the leaves under my feet as I crunch through them; I am excited for this game. I’ve heard from the football literate that this team is the most competitive we’ll be facing in our home stadium.
I asked a friend, actually, my ex-boyfriend, to come and hang out with me and some of my other friends. I still cared about him, and wanted him to be included in my life, and a football game seemed like the perfect opportunity. He was already at the game, but I didn’t know that. So I waited by the bridge to the practice field. In front of me, I see someone I know walking towards the bridge. I don’t recognize him at first, but my heart jumps in my throat anyways. As he gets closer, I know who he is. The curly hair and his brilliant eyes, it was one of my new-found crushes: Andrew."

Poem

A poem that envelops the senses in the memory of a warm summer rain.

This is a poem that I wrote over the summer when I was out in the rain. My notebook was destroyed. But I was able to recapture the memory later; and try to show everyone, what it's like to be out in the rain.

Book: General Fiction, Memoir/Autobiography, Romance, Horror

What happens when the glory of first love blinds and camouflages what's really going on? When is it too late to change?

The Love Triangle: Jeremy and Audrey...and then there's Dmitriy. When first love isn't what it seems, who's going to save everyone from the tornado of violence and trepidation that attempts to swallow the little circle of American life?

Jeremy: Guitarist. The best friend and loyal companion. He's been with Audrey through everything. He knows when something is up, he knows Audrey up and down. When she starts changing, he gets suspicious.

Audrey: A beautiful dancer. Best friend to Jeremy. She's strong and independent. She's never had time for a boyfriend before. So when first love comes along, who can resist that?

Dmitriy: A black widow of sorts. Will his game finally be brought to an end? How much can one town take before it's all over?

A tale of true love and friendship, masked by the violence of one misguided boy.
