**Important note: I'm sorry if I take a while to get back to you. I want to give you the best feedback I can possibly give. But I also have stories to write and critique for class workshops, other school-related work, and activities to do. It may be a while before I read and comment. I eventually will however.

*READ SWAPS are higher in priority than Read Requests.*
That is, if I receive a comment on my work, I'll be sure to return the favor.

*About Read Requests*
I respond more pleasantly and quickly to people who message me in a friendly and personal way.

Hello fellow InkPoppers!

I'm Samantha Bagood, a 20-year old second year university student. I'm pursuing two degrees (Creative Writing & Professional Writing) with a minor in Communications. Like most everyone here, I love to read and write. (It's been an obsession for many years.)

I hope to work in the book publishing industry. Eventually, I'd like to end up as a literary agent and a bookstore owner (in addition to publishing my own work of course). =)

I love writing, and I love helping other writers. When I read your work, I'll try my best to provide helpful comments.

Quick related facts:
-Staff Writer at Racebending.com
-Blogger (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)
-I write better during the day than at night

Quick unrelated facts:
-I love Dove chocolate
-I love traveling
-I want two kittens (one that's all black and one that's all white) so I can name them Luna and Artemis. =)
-I have a dog named Rootbeer.

Birthday Wish

by Sambgood

Short Story: General Fiction

With a bootleg Eminem CD and a basement turned teen club, Sara’s out to make her 13th birthday cool. If only BFF would let her…

Like many other middle school girls, Sara wished she could be cool. She once thought she was: she hung out with the right people in school and her neighbors were school royalty. But Sara thought wrong.

Now on her 13th birthday celebration, Sara is out to prove her coolness: she's tricked her parents into buying Eminem and transformed her basement to look like a teen club. She's taking a page from Christina Aguilera and wearing a sparkly short blouse.

And, to soldier through this battle for coolness, she's invited her best and childhood friend Christy.

But Christy is proving to make this battle into a war.

Defense mechanisms and veiled threats abound, Sara now has to decide what she'd rather wish for on her birthday:

School popularity or childhood friendship.

(Please let me know if the format is odd. I had trouble copying and pasting from Word for some reason.)

Short Story: Science Fiction/Fantasy

Nine year old William wanted to go home. Eight year old Billy thought he was home. William and Billy were the same person. (excerpt)

The once great state of Anacity had the nick-name “Mercenary state” due to its high number of private military companies based there. But in 2001, leading company ZeX Services was found performing inhuman experiments—with the state government’s permission. Anacity, eventually forced to secede from its parent nation, fell into depression.

2017. Nobel district now rests on the 8,000 acres of land that housed Zex Services’ facilities. With the New Anacity Plan in place and Control Officers to enforce it, the Mercenary state is out to regain its high place in the world.

But for 9 year old William, the world is going to pieces. His parents are dead; he’s being sent to Nobel Group Home; and an unusual Control Officer forces him to take a new identity.

But after taking on the persona of an 8 year old boy named Billy, the world begins to make less sense.
Why does no one adopt the Group Home children? Why is there so much adult supervision? And why is Dr. Cox so adamant about gaining their love?

Billy’s scared to know the answers. He’s not sure if he even cares.

But William does—and William won’t go down without a fight.
